When the farm first opened Jim and Lois didn’t charge admission because they knew how expensive it was to take their eight children places when they were young. For many years, Jim worked a lot for free and the sale of the pumpkins was enough to cover the pumpkin patch operating costs. Since his death, we have had to pay for much of the work he did for free. In addition, our insurance and labor costs continue to rise. In order to keep operating the pumpkin patch, we have had to charge admission.
